We are working with Portsmouth City Council and National Lottery Heritage Fund on the upcoming construction works at Victoria Park. As part of our community work within the project we are focusing on 3 main areas, Community, Heritage and the Environment, and forming part of that we are reaching out to local schools and community groups to get involved with our upcoming art-work project.

This community arts project is open to all ages, to any year group or community group who would like to get involved.

We are inviting local communities to send in drawings, artwork or any illustration depicting ‘The People’s Park’. We encourage everyone to display their own experiences of the park whether that’s including pictures of nature, the animals, the landscape or the history showing a variety of experiences from all ages, backgrounds and getting everyone involved.

The images will be compiled and printed on the hoarding which will surround the works area, and we encourage the children and their families to visit the park and spot their artwork! The community project is open to all a mixture of ages as we would like to incorporate a range of different aspects and experiences of the park in our display.

Ideas for the illustrations include: –

  • Animals
  • Memories of time in the park
  • Trees
  • History of the park
  • We Shine Art Display

When speaking to different ages and communities everyone has their own experiences and memories of the park which is what we would like to incapsulate as we develop this historic building project.

The deadline for submissions will be Friday 10th February 2023 and we simply ask for anyone entering to send a scanned picture or photograph of the art work , with the optional choice to include their first name only at the bottom of the drawing.

Submissions must be sent via email or we transfer to Marketing@dmhabensltds.co.uk

Alternatively, pictures can be delivered to: –
