DM Habens have been constructing and refurbishing buildings as principal contractor for over thirty-five years. We specialise in managing projects in an operational environment with minimum disruption to our client. On every project our aim is to deliver on-time, on-budget and with zero defects. Our team consists of professionally qualified and experienced Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Site Managers, & site teams – enabling us to provide an end-to-end service from design through pre-construction, to delivery and aftercare.  Supported by a carefully selected, pre-qualified and experienced supply chain. Our subcontractors are part of our team, we choose local companies with similar values, quality and health and safety standards to ourselves.

To supplement our construction sites, we operate an excellent joinery workshop, where we produce the highest quality of bespoke joinery.

Here at DM Habens we have successfully delivered hundreds of refurbishments, renovation, and construction projects for our clients. We have carried out works to schools, universities, care homes, community centres, fire stations, hospitals, offices and industrial business buildings.

Civils, Groundworks & Landscaping

In addition to our construction sites we operate our very own in-house civils department where we draw on our years of experience to deliver successful external projects. At DM Habens we carry out both hard and soft landscaping.

BM Trada Q Mark Certification Fire Door Installation

DM Habens is proud to be BM Trada Q Mark Certification Certified ensuring we can safely install and inspect fire doors ensuring the doors are safe, compliant and fit for purpose as well as members of the Q-Mark Passive Fire Stopping Installer Scheme.

Our Approved installer for both schemes is Managing Director, Brian Way.

Education

DM Habens have decades of experience working safety with primary schools, secondary schools, academies, and independent schools.

Our experience encompasses a variety of expansion projects, refurbishments and installations of new facilities and equipment, such as sports halls and classrooms. Our experienced team ensures minimum disruption to the Educational Environment, ensuring projects are completed effectively within short timeframes covering school holidays or work efficiently alongside both staff and pupils ensuring their learning is never disrupted or compromised.

Our Staff are DBS checked at enhanced disclosure level and our operatives are apprentice trained and all hold Construction Skill Certification Scheme (CSCS) Cards along with health and safety qualifications. We ensure regular Liaison Meetings provide a forum to manage disruption from an early stage. When working within educational environments DM Habens always ensure we accommodate the practical needs of the users, and be of the highest quality and safety standards.

At Habens we understand maintenance of schools, colleges and universities is essential to ensure facilities work effectively meaning it often needs to take place during term time. We specialise in minimal day-to-day disruption, keeping noise levels low and not adding strain to parking and access issues at key times of day. Works are completed around the clients’ timetable and delivered with consideration of the safety of students and staff.

HEALTHCARE

We are experienced in working in an operational environment where it is necessary to maintain the day to day capability of the hospital while the construction project is undertaken as well as being sensitive to the service needs. We have experience of delivering projects within mental health, learning disabilities, health centres and hospitals of various sizes. When working to deliver refurbishments and extension projects DM Habens ensures works are completed around the client’s requirements, in the past this has included phased works and out of hours working so that day-to-day operational activity can continue.

Through our experience carrying out refurbishment projects to hospitals, doctor’s surgeries, care homes and hospices we have methods to reduce noise, mess, disruption and traffic/ parking management.

We are experienced in working with both housing associations and private clients. Our Private Housing projects include; refurbishment, alterations, extensions and new builds.

DM Habens specialize in managing projects in the Housing Sector where the residents remain in situ. Over the past 35 years we have worked with local authorities and housing associating’s, we establish a strict customer care protocol ensuring safety of the residents, site and local community is paramount to Habens. Both our onsite resident liaison team and experienced projects team work with the local community and clients to ensure projects run smoothly with minimal disruption, we always accommodate the practical needs of the users and deliver projects with consideration of the safety of residents and the local community.

Public, Community and Business

We have worked on a number of community projects for a variety of clients, these range from community and children’s centres, church renovation, cafes to industrial warehouses and office conversions. Our experienced project and design teams have the technical expertise to deliver seamless projects that do not disrupt operations and take into account any specialist building environments.

Our work on yellow kite café in the heart of Southsea castle and Stubbington Study Centre Longhouse are examples of where we excel in this area. Our experience of working in these types of buildings both new build and historical means that we have prepared bespoke solutions for live, operational environments.
