CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) is a pre-approval scheme to allow contractors to show potential clients that they meet the required health and safety standards. CHAS works in partnership with leading industry bodies and independent organisations to provide clients and contractors alike with a single solution for accreditation, risk assessment, supply chain management and industry training. CHAS is invested in helping us to work safer and more efficiently and enjoy playing an active role in the supply chain management requirements for our business. DM Habens is accredited to the highest standard of CHAS Premier (CAS) to the common assessment standard.
ISO 9001 – Quality Management
ISO 9001:2015 sets out the criteria for a quality management system. This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. Using ISO 9001:2015 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits.
ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
ISO 14001:2015 focus on environmental systems. ISO 14001:2015 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system, it maps out a framework that a company or organization can follow to set up an effective environmental management system. It can be used by any organization regardless of its activity or sector.
ISO 45001 – Health & Safety Management
ISO 45001 is the world’s international standard for occupational health and safety, issued to protect employees and visitors from work-related accidents and diseases. ISO 45001 certification was developed to mitigate any factors that can cause employees and businesses irreparable harm. ISO 45001 has replaced the previous standard BS OHSAS 18001.
Constructionline
Constructionline is the UK’s largest register for pre-qualified contractors and consultants .Constructionline incorporates PAS 91 enhanced Questionnaire, Common Assessment Standard as well as SSIP Validation. Constructionline helps its members simplify procurement tasks, reduce risk and keep pace with legislation. Construction companies that sign up to an SSIP scheme can be confident that they are fully accredited to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations. DM Habens have been awarded the highest award of Platinum Membership of the scheme.

BM TRADA is the market leader in Testing, Inspection and Certification services. BM TRADA exists to help make certain that the materials, products and processes they test, inspect and certify are always safe, quality, compliant and fit for purpose. DM Habens is proud to be BM Trada Q Mark Certification Certified ensuring we can safely install, inspect & maintain fire doors ensuring the doors are safe, compliant and fit for purpose as well as members of the Q-Mark Passive Fire Stopping Installer Scheme.
Q-Mark Fire Door Installation Scheme
‘There is a legal requirement for manufacturers of fire doors to demonstrate the ability of their products to resist the passage and spread of fire. However, if they are not properly installed, their fire resistance capabilities can be seriously compromised. The BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Installation scheme has been designed to provide reassurance to specifiers, contractors and end users that the product they have chosen has been installed correctly and that it should perform as intended.
The Q-Mark Fire Door Installation scheme is based on training an individual who takes responsibility for the training and work carried out by several operatives. The scheme is designed to ensure that fire doorsets are being installed correctly, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions or appropriate guidelines.’

Q-Mark Fire Stopping Installation Scheme
‘Where services such as water, gas, electrics or communications penetrate through a building’s fire resistant compartment lines, it is vitally important to ensure that the hole is appropriately sealed with a suitable fire stopping solution. Both the Building Regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO) require that the person fitting fire-stopping products is competent to do so and third party certification is the accepted means of demonstrating competency.

CSCS
CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do on site. By ensuring the workforce are appropriately qualified the card plays its part in improving standards and safety on UK construction sites.
Armed Forces Covenant

Building Mental Health Charter
We proudly support the Building Mental Health Charter (BMH) which is a Framework, borne out of a cross industry volunteer group created with contributions from clients, contractors, specialist sub-contractors, designers, and trade associations. The purpose is to provide a flexible and consistent framework to enable all parts of the construction sector to access mental health support, provide awareness and training and put in place a structure and systems to support people working in and around our industry. Simply put, the goal is to:
- encourage the industry to engage and embrace the mental health agenda
- make best practice and information readily and wherever possible freely available
- ensure that the industry takes a huge leap forward to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by getting the conversation started while educating as many as possible where and when to seek help.
