Project Overview

Works are complete on site at Newport Fire Station, on the Isle of Wight.

Works took place on behalf of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service working with Hampshire County Council. The works consisted of the vehicle door renewal and removal of asbestos cladding to the dividing wall in the fleet workshop building. The 4 week project was managed on site by Alan Skeens and Contracts Manager Martyn Hodges.

The works consisted of two elements. The first involved the removal of the asbestos cement sheeting to the internal dividing wall within the main workshop area of the fleet maintenance building, while the supporting steel frame was retained. Linked to this, the removal and renewal of the distribution board serving the fleet maintenance building given its location on the asbestos wall. The new distribution board is located on a new section of ply faced metal stud partition. The second element of work was to renew the three vehicle roller shutter doors to the fleet workshop with new motorised insulated doors.
