Project Overview

Background & Scope of Works

The site is within the existing ground floor of the Rodney Road Centre, Portsmouth PO6 3GT.

The project comprised of the alteration and refurbishment of the existing accommodation, to form a new Mammography and Lung Check Unit, all within the existing ground floor of the Rodney Road Centre.  The works included the strip out of existing fixtures, fittings and finishes including M&E installations, followed by the construction of new works. Some new drainage works were also required.

Included in the substantial M&E package that we delivered was a new air handling system, new air conditioning system with an extension to the existing heating system.  Also included in the project was minor demolition works followed by ceiling & wall installation, full decoration throughout including floor coverings, fire detection and alarm system adaptation and extension, intruder alarm system adaptation and extension & bespoke joinery items for the reception space.

Key Challenges: Live site

Due to the site being within the existing ground floor of the Rodney Road Centre, the remainder of the building was fully occupied and remained in use throughout the project. The hospital was also operational 24/7 with in-patients.

It was a fundamental priority that the centre’s services were unaffected by the development, and that disruption to the occupants and general public was kept to an absolute minimum.  We carried out extensive detailed planning, to ensure that this was achieved.

Outcomes:
